Concealer lips are so back—and we’re here for it. It’s time to enter your 90s-grunge era with the Folio Makeup trend that is hot for Fall/Winter 2024. The star of this trend? M·A·Cximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Folio. The fan-favourite concealer lips shade that defined the 90s and 2000s is back. This greyish beige lipstick is not your average nude hue – it leans more cool-toned than most neutrals that we’ve recently seen. “The thing about this lipstick that makes it unique is that you don't really see [this colour] anywhere else,” says Alexandra French, Makeup Artist. “It’s this kind of like grey…like a beige-grey dead lip, but it’s hot.”
While it may be currently trending among the cool girls of the moment, it was made famous by the icon of the decade who wore and loved it. “M·A·C Folio was an anarchist lip — a rebellious response to the hyper-femininity of the 90s supermodel movement,” says Victor Cembellin, M·A·C Senior Artist, who has been with the brand for 29 years.
Folio fits right into the resurgence of off-kilter neutrals.
